Time zone converter

Pick a time in one city and see it everywhere else. Daylight saving time is applied automatically.

Runs in your browser. What you type is not sent to a server.

How it works

Your browser carries the official world time zone rules (the IANA time zone database, also used by phones and operating systems), so each city's offset from UTC and its daylight saving dates come from the same source your devices use. Pick a date as well as a time: the gap between two cities changes during the weeks when one has switched to daylight saving and the other hasn't.

Seoul and New York are 14 hours apart in November but 13 hours apart in July, because New York moves its clocks forward an hour in summer while Korea doesn't use daylight saving time. Most of Europe and North America change on different weekends, so for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap between them is an hour shorter than usual.

Times that don't exist, and times that happen twice

When clocks spring forward, an hour disappears: in New York on March 8, 2026, the time goes from 1:59 am straight to 3:00 am, so 2:30 am never happens. If you pick such a time, the converter moves it to the real time and tells you. When clocks fall back, an hour repeats; the converter uses the first one.

Planning a meeting across time zones

Add every city on the call, then move the time until the list shows working hours for everyone. A few rules of thumb: London and New York overlap from about 9 am to noon New York time; the US West Coast and Western Europe share only early morning in California; and Asia–Europe calls usually land in the European morning, which is afternoon or evening in East Asia. For how long the call or a shift lasts, including one that runs past midnight, use the hours calculator.

One meeting, four different Wednesdays

Here is a 9:00 am New York call on four Wednesdays in 2026, as this converter shows it. The New York time never changes, but the other columns do, because each country moves its clocks on its own dates.

What changes and why: the US moved its clocks forward on March 8, but Europe waited until March 29, so on March 11 London is only four hours ahead of New York instead of five. The same gap opens in autumn, when Europe goes back on October 25 and the US on November 1. India and Korea never change their clocks, so they slip an hour later in November when New York falls back. Sydney runs the other way: it is on summer time from October to April, so the same call lands at midnight or later there in March, October and November, but at 11 pm in July. Each city in the list also gets a label, Work hours, Early, Evening or Night, so the Seoul and Sydney rows above would show Night.

Time zone abbreviations

Meeting invitations often say "3 pm PST" or "10:00 CET". You can type those letters into the add box and the converter picks the matching place. It follows that place's daylight saving rules rather than the letters, because people write PST all year even in summer, when Los Angeles is really on PDT. PST, PDT and PT all give Pacific Time; EST, EDT and ET give Eastern Time; CET and CEST give Central Europe; BST gives UK time.

A few abbreviations mean more than one thing. Here IST is India, CST is US Central Time (not China) and GMT is treated as UTC. If an invitation comes from Ireland, Israel or China, type the place instead: Dublin, Shanghai or the zone name Asia/Jerusalem. If you add a city that is already on your list under another name, for example EST when New York is there, the converter points to the existing row instead of adding a copy.

Questions

Does PST mean the same as PT?

Strictly, PST is the winter time (UTC−8) and PDT the summer time (UTC−7), while PT covers both. In everyday use people say PST all year, so a "2 pm PST" call in July almost always means 2 pm in Los Angeles that day. Check with the sender if it matters, then type the city rather than the letters.

Which time zones are included?

The city list covers 53 of the most searched cities, but you can also type any official time zone name, such as Europe/Lisbon or America/Halifax, and it will work.

What is UTC?

Coordinated Universal Time is the world's reference clock. Time zones are described as offsets from it, so UTC+9 is nine hours ahead. It doesn't change for daylight saving.
