World clock
The current time in cities around the world, how far ahead or behind they are from you, and whether it's day or night there. Daylight saving time is applied automatically.

Time zones of major cities
Each city's difference from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in January and in July 2026. Where the two differ, the city uses daylight saving time for part of the year.

Northern cities such as New York, London and Paris move their clocks forward in spring, so their July offset is one hour later. Southern cities such as Sydney and Auckland do the opposite: they are on summer time in January. Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Dubai, Mumbai and Singapore don't change their clocks at all. India, Iran, Nepal and parts of Australia use half-hour or 45-minute offsets.
When it's 9 am in New York
A morning call from New York lands at very different times around the world, and the answer changes with the seasons. Worked out with the same time zone rules as the clocks above, for January 15 and July 15, 2026:
| City | January | July |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles | 6:00 am | 6:00 am |
| London | 2:00 pm | 2:00 pm |
| Paris | 3:00 pm | 3:00 pm |
| Dubai | 6:00 pm | 5:00 pm |
| Mumbai | 7:30 pm | 6:30 pm |
| Singapore | 10:00 pm | 9:00 pm |
| Tokyo | 11:00 pm | 10:00 pm |
| Sydney | 1:00 am (next day) | 11:00 pm |
London is five hours ahead of New York in both months because both move their clocks, but Sydney swaps direction: its summer is in January. Tokyo and Singapore don't change their clocks, so the gap from New York shrinks by an hour in July. To plan a call at another time, use the time zone converter.
Where the times come from
The clock reads the time from your own device and works out each city's local time with the official world time zone rules built into your browser (the IANA time zone database, the same one phones and computers use). If your device clock is wrong, every time here will be off by the same amount. You can add any city from the list, or type a time zone name such as Europe/Prague or America/Halifax.
Questions
Does the world clock show seconds?
Yes. Every city ticks live with hours, minutes and seconds, all taken from the same reading of your device clock so they stay in step.
What time is it in New York right now?
The New York row at the top shows it live. New York is on Eastern Time, which is UTC−5 in winter and UTC−4 while daylight saving time is on.
What time is it in California?
Look at the Los Angeles row, since all of California uses Pacific Time: UTC−8 in winter and UTC−7 during daylight saving time.
Why is world time based on UTC?
UTC, Coordinated Universal Time, is the one reference every country's clocks are set against, and each time zone is written as a difference from it, such as UTC+9 for Tokyo. With one shared reference, any two places can be compared in a single step.
How accurate are the times shown?
As accurate as your device clock, which phones and computers usually set from the network automatically. The time zone rules come from the official database built into your browser, so daylight saving changes are applied on the right dates.
What does "Tomorrow" or "Yesterday" mean on a city?
It compares the city's date with yours. When it's evening in New York, it's already the next morning in Tokyo and Sydney, so they show Tomorrow.
Why did the difference between two cities change by an hour?
One of them has switched to or from daylight saving time. The US and Europe change on different weekends in March and in October or November, so their gap is one hour shorter for a few weeks.
What is GMT?
Greenwich Mean Time is the time in London in winter, the same as UTC. In summer the UK uses British Summer Time, one hour ahead of UTC.
